This page has been created to provide resources for staff working with OSY Youth.
This survey is to help MEP staff determine the best appropriate to design services for OSY. Youth need to be surveyed after the initial point of recruitment. The survey should not be given at the time of recruitment. It should always be done on a follow up visit. All visits of this nature should be logged on the service log and turned in at the end of the month. Completed surveys should be mailed in each week.
Resource List
The attached resource guide can act as a starting point for MEP staff to determine what services are available in their communities. This listing can help staff identify appropriate resources and referral information to share with the youth.
OSY Lesson Plan Form
Instructors must use this form and send it in weekly by Wednesday. The form should outline the session goals per student as well as show how speaking, reading, writing and listening activities have been chosen for the session. Instructors should be able to explain how the instruction will be different based on the language level of the student.
Oral Language Assessments
OSY instructors should always use one of these to assess basic oral language proficiency for out-of-school youth. This will allow the instructor to better formulate an individual educational plan for language learning. The following oral language assessment instruments have been used successfully in other MEP programs with OSY students.
The following is a listing of OSY lessons that instructors can give in their sessions with youth. Sessions should be no longer than 45 minutes once a week. Plans should be sent in to explain what parts of the unit the instructor will use in their session per week.
