LEAPs funding comes through profits from the Tennessee State Lottery. In November 2002, Tennesseans voted to create a state lottery. The General Assembly established that profits from the lottery go towards specific educational programs: college scholarships, early childhood programs and afterschool programs. As provided under TCA 49-6-702, one hundred percent (100%) of the monies constituting an unclaimed prize shall be deposited into an afterschool account for the purpose of administering a system of competitive grants and technical assistance for eligible organizations provide afterschool educational programs within TN. The overall goal of the LEAPs grants is to provide students in TN with enrichment opportunties that reinforce and complement the regular academic program. We are grateful for the funds we receive to conduct the LEAPs programming. Over 200 students in Warren County are benefiting from the program through quality after-school programming. Resources for LEAPs staff This resource includes more than 300 instructional games for teachers and tutors to use in their classrooms. Games are a great way to help students acquire needed knowledge in a comfortable environment while building both academic and social skills. LEAPs staff (teachers and assistants) are required to keep a homework log each day for each student that they worked with. This form documents completion and understanding of assignments. This log is turned in with staff timesheets on the 15th and last working day of each month. In addition to this staff keep a weekly log of all instruction in grade level subjects. These forms are also required to be turned in with staff timesheets. LEAPs Homework and Instruction Logs
